Clinical Eye
Preparing patient for clinical tests for blood sugar, cholesterol, blood pressure ?

I wish to have clinical tests for assessing
(1) blood sugar and other effects of having diabetes for last one year
(2) whether I have high blood pressure
(3) whether my cholesterol level is normal
(4) eye test.

I can get these tests done without consulting a doctor. But I wish to know what all tests I should do and how should I prepare for these tests such as fasting blood sugar etc.

Thanks

1.) For the fasting blood sugar test, it’s usually recommended that the patient not have anything to eat or drink for 8-12 hours prior to the test, to gain an accurate result of the body’s natural sugar / insulin production.

2.) To test blood pressure, sit comfortably for at least 10 minutes before testing. Don’t smoke or drink caffeine within 30 minutes of testing. Activity, smoking, and caffeine can give an innaccurately high result.

3) Cholesterol level is also a blood test, which the patient shouldn’t eat or drink anything for 8-12 hours prior to testing

4) Eye test – bring any prescription eyeglasses or contacts with you. Bring some dark sunglasses in case they dilate your eyes.
