Am i eating/exercising healthy for a 15 year old boy?
I am a 15 year old boy who is 105 pounds and 5 foot 5.5 inches. I want to know if i am eating healthy enough and am getting enough exercise.
Breakfast: 8 ounce cup of low fat milk and a Nutrigrain bar. About an hour later i have a little pack of fruit snacks
Lunch: Usually i have a 16 ounce water bottle with a PB&J Sandwich on white bread. Once a week i may eat out at lunch such as subway or a 2 piece KFC meal
Snacks: A bowl of mac and cheese or french toast all homemade. I usually have this since i dont eat much for lunch on the days i have a sandwich. I dont have snacks on the days i eat outside for lunch. I always have another bottle of water though
Dinner: Chicken or Fish with a nice serving of rice with some vegetables.
Everyday after school i go to track practice and run 3-4 miles. I am not sure if i am eating to much or to little. Could anyone give me some advice? I also get about 7 hours of sleep each night on average.
Thanks in advance
It looks pretty good but it could use some improvements.
Breakfast: Nutrigrain isn’t bad, but there’s added sugars, a nice bowl of whole grain cereal with no added sugars/syrups and a nice serving of fiber would do you better. And for the fruit snacks, have a piece of fruit instead.
Lunch: Good job on the water! But cut out the white bread and replace it with whole grain, and for the jelly…get the no sugar added kind. If you eat at subway or KFC, try to keep it light, I don’t think you realize how really gross fast food can be. But subway has a lot of decent, healthy choices.
Snacks: Hmm…you could do better than mac and cheese, but if you really love it, then I say have it.
You’re still young, your metabolism is way fast. Since it’s home-made, maybe try substituting the cheese for low fat and the noodles for whole grain?
Dinner: Dinner looks good, but still, make sure the rice is whole grain and make sure veggies take up most of your plate. You only need the size of a deck of cards of meat a day also.
Hope i’ve helped!
