18 year old take DHEA supplments very minimally?
I’m an 18 year old life extension interested in anti-aging (or
I suppose at this age I’d call it “youth extension”), and I am going
about this a few different ways.
1.I am starting a strict paleo diet, shown to be highly beneficial
2. I’m starting CR, but in the form of intermittent fasting.
3. I’ve started taking supplements, such as resveratrol,
multi vitamins, cod liver oil, etc.
I’ve also recently read about DHEA, and it’s many pros and cons. I’d
definitely be concerned about the potential dangers and risks I’d be
taking , but I also heard that DHEA can be taken harmless by teenagers, if in small
amounts. So I was wondering if taking a low dose (25 mgs) every other
day, or once every week, still poses any danger? Everyday seems like a little much, but I though 25 mgs a one day a week might be a safe and successful supplementation
I would avoid DHEA like the plague if I were you!
I bought a bottle of it once hoping it would be a good addition to my routine and supplements… But it threw me into a roid rage all day. Seriously – I was like a spiked baseball bat just itching to knock someone’s head off.
After more research, I found out that DHEA is a precursor to all male specific hormones such as testosterone and the likes. It can cause balding, adverse sexual side effects and all other types of nasty things. DHEA outlawed in many European counties. It is prescribed for men with low testosterone levels, but seeing how you’re just 18, you already are oozing w/testosterone!
My advice, you’re fine without it – Trust me.
